Location recce
A location recce is used to judge the suitability of a potential filming location. It questions the locations size, lighting and safety.
Sam provided us with a template to use that included essential questions which, when answered, helped me find out if and why my location would be suitable. We had to write details about the size, lighting and safety of our location. I took pictures during production (for the lighting section) and I took some photos afterwards (for the evidence) as I forgot to take any before setting up. Before completing the location recce, I already had an idea as to why it was the best location I could find. Because I had already set up my equipment, I had to return to question 3 after filming to get the exact measurements.
Next time when completing a location recce, I will make sure to complete all of it before setting anything up. Having a complete location recce done on time, means you will have time to review it and double check the location key elements before deciding. I think a location recce is important to capture the details, but I do not feel that going back to some questions after production affected my production in any way.
